Feeling the heat? Beat the summer scorch with Sitali Pranayama, a simple yet effective yoga breathing technique that can help cool down your body and mind.
Sitali Pranayama, also known as the Cooling Breath, is a traditional yogic practice that involves inhaling through a rolled tongue and exhaling through the nose. This technique is believed to have a cooling effect on the body, making it an ideal practice for hot summer days.
To practice follow these simple steps:
· Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight.
· Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nostrils.
· As you exhale, stick your tongue out and roll it into a taco shape, allowing the air to pass over your tongue as you exhale out of the mouth.
· When you've finished exhaling, close your mouth and inhale again through your nostrils.
· Exhale through your mouth once more, with your tongue still rolled.
· Repeat steps 4-5 for 5-10 breath cycles.
When you're finished, take a moment to feel the cooling sensation on your chest and body.
